Israel intercepts UAVs launched from Iran
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported that several unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran toward Israel were intercepted by the Israeli Air Force (IAF) on the morning of June 14.
Sirens sounded between 08:11 and 08:12 in areas including Judea and the Dead Sea, prompting immediate aerial defence responses, IDF said in a statement, Caliber.Az reports.
The IDF confirmed that the UAVs were successfully intercepted before causing damage or casualties.
“A short while ago, sirens sounded in several areas across Israel following the identification of UAVs launched from Iran toward the State of Israel,” the military said, adding that IAF units are actively engaged in eliminating the threat as it develops.
Authorities have urged the public to remain alert and follow all safety instructions issued by the Home Front Command.
Tensions between Iran and Israel dramatically escalated, when Israel launched its largest-ever air offensive against Iran on June 13, targeting senior military commanders, nuclear scientists, strategic military sites, and the Natanz underground nuclear facility.
In response to the Israeli strikes, Iran’s state media reported that the Islamic Republic launched hundreds of ballistic missiles at Israeli targets, vowing severe retaliation.
