Israel strikes Jabalia refugee camp in Gaza, killing over 30
At least 31 people have been killed following an Israeli army airstrike on the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip.
Israeli warplanes bombed 12 houses inside the camp, according to WAFA.
There are many wounded as a result of the attack.
Meanwhile, official representative of the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) Peter Lerner has said more than 1 million civilians have been able to evacuate from the northern areas of the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the ground operation.
"I can say that over different periods we have had quite a lot of success with several hundred thousand, and according to some estimates, more than 1 million people evacuated from the northern areas and headed south," he noted.
In a ground operation, he said, this gives "room for manoeuvre in identifying where the enemy is taking refuge".
Undoubtedly, as any modern armed forces can realise, there is a significant problem in distinguishing between civilians and terrorists," he added.
Earlier, the IDF said that nearly 200,000 people have fled Gaza City in the past three days alone.
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh has said Palestine rejected Israel's proposal to establish "temporary refugee camps" in the southern Gaza Strip.
"There is no such thing as 'temporary' in Palestinian history. Experience has taught us that what is 'temporary' later becomes permanent," he said.
He emphasised that displaced Palestinians should return to their homes.
According to Shtayyeh, the policy pursued by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will lead Israel to disaster. "The Gaza Strip is part of the Palestinian territory occupied in 1967. We don't need anyone's permission to help our compatriots living there," the politician said.
The prime minister expressed regret that some countries still claim Israel's right to self-defence. "An aggressor has no right to self-defence. Whoever gives Israel military support is complicit in the bloodshed of Palestinian children, women and innocent people," he said.
Moreover, the Israel Defence Forces said that they have arranged the transfer of incubators for premature babies from one of the Israeli hospitals to the Palestinian medical centre "Al-Shifa".
The Israeli side offered assistance to the general director of the Palestinian hospital and also initiated a humanitarian action to transfer incubators to the Gaza medical centre.
