Kazakhstan president awards rescuers for life-saving efforts after Aktau plane crash
Kazakhstan’s President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, has awarded a large group of individuals for their bravery, professionalism, and civic responsibility during the rescue operation following the plane crash near Aktau. These individuals played a crucial role in saving passengers from the downed aircraft.
Among those recognized for their heroic actions were employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), medical staff, police officers, workers from the Mangystau Regional Electric Network Company, and personnel from Aktau International Airport, Caliber.Az reports.
The incident occurred on December 25 when an Embraer aircraft, operated by Azerbaijan Airlines, crashed near Aktau while en route from Baku to Grozny. The plane was carrying 67 people, 38 of whom tragically lost their lives. Fortunately, 29 passengers survived the crash. Initial assessments suggest that the plane was downed in Russian airspace. Among the fatalities were six Kazakh citizens.
