FM: Georgia deepening Central Asia ties without shifting from other partners

Georgia is expanding its cooperation with Central Asian countries on the basis of mutual interests while continuing to strengthen relations with other international partners, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili has said.

Speaking on the Daily Chronicle programme, Bochorishvili said closer engagement with Asian countries should not be interpreted as a shift away from Georgia's existing foreign policy priorities, Caliber.Az reports per Georgian media.

“Given the current geopolitical situation, focusing solely on one partner would be a major mistake for Georgia. The country’s strategic goals require developing partnerships in all areas where we have interests,” Bochorishvili emphasised.

The foreign minister said Georgia's growing cooperation with Central Asian states is helping to expand trade and economic relations while improving regional connectivity.

She also highlighted the country's strategic location and the increasing importance of the Middle Corridor, describing them as key factors creating new opportunities for international economic cooperation and reinforcing Georgia's role as a regional transport and logistics hub.

“One need only look at a map to understand how important a role Georgia plays for various regions. In the current complex geopolitical situation, the development of the Middle Corridor and the strengthening of ties among partners take on special significance,” the minister stated.
