Kremlin: Putin-Trump dialogue can be quickly activated if political will exists
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said that mechanisms for organizing a dialogue between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and US President-elect Donald Trump are available and can be easily activated if there is political will.
"There are aides. Mechanisms for dialogue are available, and if there is political will, they can be easily and promptly activated," Peskov said, referring to the possibility of dialogue between the politicians, given that the winner of the US election has no access to secure government communication channels before the inauguration, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Notably, on November 15, Peskov said in an interview with The New York Times that there was "modest hope" that US-Russian dialogue would resume at a low level after Trump's victory.
On November 14, former US State Department special representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker said that the Republican avoids demonising the Russian president because he intends to make a deal with him.
