Kyiv claims 300,000 Russian soldiers killed, wounded in war

06 January 2023 14:03

The losses of the Russian army in Ukraine may exceed 300,000 people killed and wounded. However, the Russian leadership is indifferent to the figures.

Adviser to the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Mykhailo Podolyak, made the remarks in an interview with Channel 24, RBC-Ukraine reports.

Podolyak commented on the estimates of the European General Staff about Russia's losses. According to him, the figure of 250,000 is somewhat underestimated, since the Russian Federation has additional non-permanent troops, including the Wagner private military company and recruited prisoners, the Rosgvardiya and the FSB.

"It seems that the figure (of Russians killed and wounded - ed.) is a little more than 300,000. But Russia today is in such an immoral state that it makes no difference, they will lose 100,000, 200,000 or 500,000. This is a matter of deploying an internal riot as such, and it does not depend on the number of the dead," he said.

At the same time, he stressed that Ukraine is not waging a genocidal war, but has the right to destroy the occupation troops who illegally entered the territory.

"Because they are killing our people, and they are destroying our cities. This is mandatory retaliation, the rule of war, and the legally motivated behaviour of Ukraine. And at the same time, we always say that we will not enter the territory of Russia because there is no point in doing anything there. We cannot fix their brains, and they will live as they constantly live in the XVII century," Podolyak stressed.
