Kyrgyz deputy PM signals expectations for upcoming presidency
Kyrgyzstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov stated that he is confident President Sadyr Japarov will be re-elected for another term.
According to him, under Japarov’s leadership, the country is demonstrating stable development, with “strategic trajectories” outlined through 2032, a course he believes enjoys broad public support, Caliber.Az reports per Kyrgyz media.
“God willing, our people will re-elect our president. The question is only whether it will be 75, 85, or 90 percent,” he said.
Baisalov noted that this year will be his last as deputy prime minister under the current presidential cycle. He emphasised his intention to complete ongoing reforms, particularly in education, describing the school reform as key to the country’s future.
The official also stated that the results of education reforms will become noticeable only in 15 years. He added that the full effect is expected by 2050, when the country should achieve a “new generation of competitive Kyrgyz citizens.”
