Kyrgyzstan establishes state protection service under president
President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan has signed a decree introducing the State Protection Service under the office of the president, aimed at strengthening the country’s national security framework.
The decree establishes the new service based on the 9th division of the State Committee for National Security, Caliber.Az reports per Kyrgyz media.
The State Protection Service will operate directly under the president and be accountable to him, forming part of Kyrgyzstan’s national security apparatus.
Within its remit, the service will conduct protective measures to ensure the safety of designated individuals and key facilities.
The head of the service will be appointed and dismissed by the president, while deputy heads will be appointed and removed by the president on the recommendation of the service chief. The organisation’s structure, staffing levels, and regulations will also be determined by presidential decree.
The Cabinet of Ministers has been instructed to align its decisions with the new decree and take any additional measures required by the legislation.
The decree comes into effect immediately upon its official publication.
