Lithuanian FM pushes for Ukraine to be supplied with long-range weapons
The Lithuanian foreign minister has made an appeal for Ukraine to be supplied with long-range Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) and German-made Leopard fighting tanks in their fight against Russian attacks, for which Kyiv is currently in negotiations with the US and Germany.
He expressed this view on his official Twitter account on January 11.
"Putin is betting on more delays. He must lose that bet. Ukraine has more than earned our support and respect. It's time to send ATACMS missiles and unleash the Leopards", his post read.
Caliber.Az recalls, that Ukraine made a request to the US regarding the ATACMS to be in a position to attack Russian strategic positions behind the front lines, arguing that by destroying the infrastructures in the rear, the end of the war will become imminent. Washington has so far declined this request, believing that the supply of such a weapon could lead to a serious escalation of the conflict.
Putin is betting on more delays. He must lose that bet. Ukraine has more than earned our support and respect. It's time to send ATACMS 🚀 and unleash the Leopards 🐆🇺🇦
