Kyrgyzstan to open third transport corridor to China as trade soars PHOTO
Kyrgyzstan is set to open a third transport corridor via the Bedel Pass amid growing trade and cargo traffic with China, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Beknazar Bazaraliev announced.
The move comes as existing routes through the Torugart and Irkeshtam border crossings have reached capacity, Caliber.Az reports via Kyrgyz media.

The new corridor will span roughly 150 km within Kyrgyzstan, Bazaraliev said, adding that construction works have already begun, including on two 10-11 km long tunnels. The project is planned to be completed in August 2029.
The technological road’s construction was completed in 2024, he recalled.
Bazaraliev said the route will provide the shortest connection from China to Issyk-Kul. Plans include two modern rest areas with restaurants, hotels, gas stations, and electric vehicle charging stations.
The Ministry is also in talks with partners to establish advanced campgrounds along the corridor under public-private partnerships (PPP).
