Russian airstrike damages Latvian honorary consulate in Sloviansk UPDATED/PHOTO

A Russian airstrike on the eastern Ukrainian city of Sloviansk damaged Latvia's honorary consulate, Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, has stated.

He said in a post on Telegram that the attack damaged 10 private homes and an industrial facility, Caliber.Az reports.

According to preliminary information, five people were killed, and nine others were injured in the strike.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said rescue operations are ongoing in the Kyiv region following a Russian missile strike, with at least six people confirmed dead and dozens injured.

In a post on Telegram, he said as of now, dozens of people are known to have been injured, Caliber.Az reports.

“It is also known that, unfortunately, six people have been killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Efforts to establish all the circumstances and determine the fate of those affected are ongoing. All the necessary emergency services are working at the scene," Zelenskyy wrote.

The Ukrainian president also noted that Russian guided aerial bomb strikes on the eastern city of Sloviansk killed five people and wounded nine others.

"There are also casualties in Sloviansk as a result of guided bomb strikes. Five people have been killed. My condolences to their families. Nine others have been injured. Ordinary residential buildings, the consulate building and vehicles have been damaged," he added.

Earlier on July 24, Russian forces reportedly launched a missile strike on a Ukrainian military training ground where a defence equipment exhibition was taking place.
