Maduro accuses Musk of funding potential coup d'état in Venezuela
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has accused entrepreneur Elon Musk of funding a potential coup d'état in Venezuela, alleging that Musk has invested at least one billion dollars to support this effort.
Maduro shared these claims during an appearance on the program "With Maduro Plus" on state television, per Caliber.Az.
He asserted that the coup attempt could occur following the presidential elections scheduled for July 28, 2024.
“Elon Musk has invested at least $1 billion in a coup d'état, in a fascist insurgency, in violence against the electoral process,” Maduro stated. He highlighted that the far-right opposition plans to incite violence and destabilize the country after the upcoming elections.
Maduro suggested that the U.S. government is behind this alleged coup attempt, describing it as part of a "permanent conspiracy" by the North American empire.
He further claimed that Musk's social media accounts incited violence, arson, and murder, and indicated that Musk's financial support was channelled through opposition leader María Corina Machado, whom he accused of financing terrorist groups.
“Musk has been defeated,” Maduro declared, emphasizing that “in Venezuela, laws, truth, statehood, order, and peace have prevailed.”
