Azerbaijan’s Defence Ministry: Armenia conceals armed provocations with disinformation
The Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan has accused Armenia of attempting to conceal its armed provocations by spreading disinformation, following a new incident along the border.
In a statement on March 31, the ministry reported that Azerbaijani Army positions came under fire from Armenian forces in the direction of the Bazarchay settlement in the Garakilsa region, Caliber.Az reports.
"On March 31, at about 11:10, the Azerbaijan Army positions were subjected to fire with the use of small arms from the positions of the Armenian armed forces," the statement read.
The ministry further noted that Armenia has been engaging in repeated ceasefire violations and reconnaissance activities using unmanned aerial vehicles.
“The Armenian side that regularly subjected to fire the Azerbaijan Army units, as well as attempted to carry out reconnaissance flights over our positions using unmanned aerial vehicles and drones in recent days, is spreading disinformation in order to conceal its provocations,” the statement added.
Azerbaijan’s Defence Ministry also dismissed claims made by Armenia that Azerbaijani forces had allegedly opened fire on the Khanazakh settlement.
“We declare that the information disseminated by Armenia claiming that the Azerbaijan Army units allegedly subjected to fire Khanazakh settlement is baseless, entirely false, and disinformation,” the statement said.
The ministry warned that Armenia is deliberately attempting to mislead the international community by fabricating claims.
“The opposite side is trying to form a false opinion in the international community and conceal its provocations by spreading such false and untrue information,” the statement concluded.
