Media: Israeli troops reportedly enter Syria’s Daraa province, establish checkpoint
Israeli military personnel have reportedly crossed into southern Syria’s Daraa province, in what may mark a rare and significant ground incursion.
Al-Ikhbaria TV reported that soldiers from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) were observed early in the morning on the outskirts of the village of Abdin, situated in the western region of Daraa.
The report further alleges that the Israeli contingent proceeded to the Al Areda area, where they established a military checkpoint. No official statement has been issued by Israeli authorities regarding the alleged operation.
The strategic location of Daraa—close to the borders of Jordan and Israel—has made it a focal point of geopolitical tensions and shifting control throughout Syria’s prolonged conflict.
