Azerbaijan aims for 30% renewable energy by 2030, minister says
Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov has said that Azerbaijan is identified as a country with significant potential in renewable energy sources.
Jabbarov made these remarks at the conference titled "Role of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in the Green Economy" in Baku, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
"To realize this potential, we are collaborating with leading global energy companies. Projects are being implemented through public-private partnerships. Our goal is to increase the share of renewable energy in the country's overall energy balance to 30 per cent by 2030," he noted.
The minister reminded that the recently liberated Karabakh and East Zangezur regions have been designated as green energy zones.
“Specifically, Fuzuli, Jabrayil, and Zangilan districts have significant solar energy potential, while the Lachin and Kalbajar districts are well-suited for wind and hydroelectric power. The government is implementing incentive mechanisms, tax benefits, and other measures to encourage business development in Karabakh," he said.
Jabbarov added that as small and medium-sized enterprises in Azerbaijan increasingly adopt green technologies, they not only will contribute more to the country's economy but also enhance competitiveness and profitability.
