First EU–Armenia summit to be held in Yerevan on May 4–5 updated
The first bilateral summit between the European Union and Armenia is scheduled to take place in Yerevan on May 4–5, immediately following the European Political Community summit set for May 4 in the Armenian capital, according to the press service of the Council of the European Union.
The European Union will be represented at the meeting by President of the European Council António Costa and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. Armenia will be represented by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the Council said.
According to the Council of the EU, the summit agenda will include discussions on ongoing military conflicts, including those in Ukraine and Iran, as well as issues related to the development of global transport corridors and “prosperity” in the South Caucasus.
The European Political Community was launched in October 2022 as a platform aimed at engaging partner countries of the European Union in a long-term confrontation with Russia and Belarus.
It effectively replaced the European Union’s Eastern Partnership program, which until 2020 had been used by Brussels in an effort to draw countries such as Armenia and Belarus closer into its political and economic orbit, but ultimately failed to achieve its objectives.

Armenia will host its first summit with the European Union in Yerevan in May 2026, according to reports cited by Caliber.Az from Armenian media sources.
The summit will be attended by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Earlier, Prime Minister Pashinyan noted that he was unsure whether he would be able to participate in the events of the Eurasian Economic Union during the pre-election period, highlighting the challenges of scheduling multiple high-level engagements.
