Türkiye extradites wanted financial pyramid scheme executive to Kazakhstan VIDEO

Türkiye has extradited to Kazakhstan a former executive of a structural unit of the Finiko financial pyramid who had been wanted internationally since 2022, Kazakhstan’s Financial Monitoring Agency announced.

The operation was carried out by officers from the agency’s Almaty department jointly with Interpol’s National Central Bureau, under the coordination of prosecutorial authorities, Caliber.Az reports via Kazakh media.

According to the report, Finiko did not engage in any genuine business or investment activity, with payments to earlier participants made using funds from new investors. More than 160 million tenge (about $355,000) was subsequently attracted into the pyramid scheme.

As part of pretrial confiscation proceedings, a plot of land belonging to the suspect, valued at 221 million tenge ($490,000), was also transferred to state ownership. Earlier, three defendants in the case were sentenced to up to six years in prison, with their property confiscated.

The investigation is ongoing.
