Moldova holds parliamentary elections on September 28
Today, September 28, Moldovans are voting to elect more than 100 MPs to serve a four-year term in parliament.
According to NewsMaker.md, 14 parties, four electoral blocs and four independent candidates are competing in the race.
The main contest is expected between the ruling Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) and the Patriotic Bloc, which unites the Socialists, Communists, as well as the “Heart of Moldova” and “Future of Moldova” parties.
Polls suggest that “Our Party” and the “Alternative” bloc also have a chance of entering parliament, with projections ranging from 4% to 10%.
To secure seats, parties must win at least 5% of the vote, blocs 7%, and independents 2%. Voting is taking place at 1,973 polling stations, including 12 set up for residents of Transnistria. The elections will be considered valid if turnout reaches at least 30%.
