Moldova set to denounce all defence deals signed within CIS
The Moldovan Parliament is going to denounce all defence agreements signed within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
Doina Gherman, the chairman of the parliamentary commission for foreign policy and European integration, has said that Chisinau will henceforth conclude such agreements only with EU countries, according to Interfax.
"These agreements have not worked until now, as Moldova initially when joining the CIS, declared that it would not participate in discussions and cooperation on political and military issues, as well as in what concerns security and defence," she said, speaking in parliament.
On the agenda of the Moldovan parliament are initiatives on the denunciation of the agreements with the CIS on strategic armed forces, on the CIS joint consultative commission on disarmament issues, as well as on the charter of the joint institute for nuclear research.
