German chancellor calls for swift, safe aid delivery to Gaza during phone talk with Israeli PM
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has emphasised the urgent need to provide adequate humanitarian assistance to Gaza during a recent phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
He highlighted the critical importance of ensuring that this aid is delivered swiftly and safely to the civilians, Caliber.Az reports via German media.
Merz stressed the necessity for humanitarian supplies to reach those in need without compromising their safety.
In the discussion, Merz also expressed hope for the release of hostages and called for the prompt resumption of peace negotiations aimed at achieving a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict.
Reaffirming Germany’s long-standing stance, Chancellor Merz reiterated that the government remains committed to a two-state solution as the best framework for a peaceful coexistence between Israelis and Palestinians. He underlined that Israel’s security and existence continue to be a fundamental priority of German foreign policy.
