NATO's Deputy Secretary General: Sweden soon to join alliance

NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană has expressed confidence that Sweden will soon join the alliance.

According to Geoană, a package of laws will enter into force in Sweden on April 1, which includes the commitments made in the memorandum with Türkiye, Agerpres reports.

"The question of Sweden is a legitimate discussion between the candidate and allied countries It would be ideal if Sweden joined before the [NATO] summit in Vilnius," the alliance's deputy secretary general noted.
