New nationwide protest due in France

French trade unions will hold on February 16 the fifth nationwide protest since the beginning of this year against the government's plans to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64 years.

The strike will affect energy companies, public transport, and education, TASS reports.

In a joint appeal, the national federations of dockers, railway workers, machinists, and energy industry workers called on their activists to stop working for a day on February 16 as part of an intersectoral trade union action.
