Trump arrives in Qatar on official visit
US President Donald Trump has arrived in Qatar on an official visit.
His plane brought him to Doha from Saudi Arabia — the first stop on his tour of the Gulf states, Caliber.Az reports, citing Al Jazeera.
Trump is the first American president to visit Qatar in the past 22 years. He was received at the airport by the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Welcoming Trump, Al Thani said: “We all want peace in the region and hope that this time it will happen... I know you are a man of peace and want to bring peace. We can continue working together to achieve that — in our region and beyond, including with Russia and Ukraine.”
As previously noted, the talks in Doha are expected to focus on the situation in Gaza and ways to secure the release of hostages held by Hamas. Trump also plans to discuss bilateral cooperation between the U.S. and Qatar.
