Polish FM urges citizens to avoid travel to Russia, Belarus
11 September 2025 17:54
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has urged citizens to refrain from travelling to Russia and Belarus, warning of the risks of detention.
Sikorski said that those who chose to go to either country would be doing so at their own risk, stressing that there was a danger of being taken hostage. He noted that in the event of arrest or other incidents, the Polish authorities would not be able to intervene quickly or negotiate an exchange of citizens, Caliber.Az reports via RMF24 Radio.
His remarks came days after Belarusian state television on September 5 reported the detention of a Polish citizen, a monk, who was allegedly collecting information on the joint Russian-Belarusian military exercises Zapad-2025.
