Board of Peace unveils Gaza stabilisation initiative in coming months

27 July 2026 12:59

The Board of Peace said an International Stabilisation Force is being planned for Gaza as part of efforts it says are aimed at supporting humanitarian assistance, reconstruction and future development.

In a statement posted on X, the organisation said the proposed force would play a role in expanding humanitarian services and reconstruction activities in the territory.

The Board of Peace said the initiative would proceed with "concrete actions" over the coming months to introduce what it described as a new model of governance, security and economic opportunity in Gaza.

Earlier, Israel’s security cabinet approved key legal measures enabling an International Stabilization Force (ISF), proposed under US President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan, to deploy to the Gaza Strip.

The force will operate in full coordination with the Israeli military, according to an Israeli official. Reuters reported that the mission is expected to comprise around 200 personnel from countries including Uganda and Morocco, although no deployment date has been announced. Israel will also have the authority to approve participating countries.

The ISF is part of a broader plan that includes an international Board of Peace to oversee Gaza’s governance and reconstruction, a technocratic National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, the disarmament of Hamas and an Israeli withdrawal from the enclave.

Nickolay Mladenov, director-general of the Gaza Board of Peace, welcomed the decision.
