Lithuania to require Russian visitors to condemn war in Ukraine

27 July 2026 12:30

Lithuania will require Russian citizens entering the country to participate in public events in the fields of education, culture, or sports to sign a declaration condemning Russia's actions in Ukraine, the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

According to the ministry, Russian nationals who refuse to sign the declaration will be denied entry into Lithuania, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.

The policy is intended to establish "clear, transparent, and uniform legal regulations for all, where decisions are based on objective criteria rather than on a case-by-case assessment," the ministry said in a statement to the BNS news agency.

The Foreign Ministry said it is preparing the declaration, which will apply to Russian and Belarusian citizens seeking to enter Lithuania to take part in public events related to education, culture, and sports.

Under the proposed rules, refusal to sign the document will result in entry being denied.
