Saudi Arabia to supply Syria with over 1.6 million barrels of crude oil
Saudi Arabia will provide Damascus with 1.65 million barrels of crude oil to support the country’s economy and improve living conditions for its people.
The decision was made under the directives of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The memorandum of understanding was signed in Syria by Sultan Al-Marshad, CEO of the Saudi Development Fund (SFD), and Syrian Energy Minister Mohammed Al-Bashir.
“The grant is aimed at improving the operations of Syrian oil refineries and achieving both operational and financial sustainability. Its objectives include supporting economic development, addressing economic challenges, boosting critical sectors, and contributing to sustainable development goals,” the SPA wrote.
The agency said the grant also reflects “Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to improve the living conditions of the brotherly Syrian people, building on the close relations between the two countries.”
