Belarus eyes economic ties, peace talks in meeting with Trump’s envoy VIDEO
Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko met in Minsk with John Coale, a representative of US President Donald Trump, for a high-level discussion on bilateral relations, global affairs, and economic cooperation.
The meeting opened with Lukashenko welcoming the American envoy and thanking him for visiting Belarus “during these difficult times,” Caliber.Az reports, citing Belarus media.
Lukashenko emphasized the importance of discussing a wide range of issues that have long remained unresolved between the two countries.
“Firstly, this is the entire spectrum of Belarusian-American relations. Furthermore, I suggest we have a frank discussion on global affairs, specifically regarding US and Belarusian interests. We will also need to discuss the subject of war and peace,” he added.
During the conversation, Lukashenko also expressed appreciation for US President Donald Trump's global peace efforts:
“I thank US President Donald Trump for the efforts he is making towards establishing peace in various parts of the world.”
Highlighting the importance of economic collaboration, Lukashenko said he sees mutual commercial potential:
“I expect that you have commercial interests in Belarus, and you are also interested in getting access to Russia through Belarus. Likewise, we have a considerable interest in the economic opportunities your huge country presents.”
At the meeting, US envoy John Coale presented Lukashenko with a personal message from Trump, conveying birthday wishes from the president and his wife, Melania.
