Czech Republic to align with EU on Board of Peace decision, PM says
The Czech Republic has announced its intention to coordinate with European Union partners before making a decision on possible participation in the Board of Peace established by US President Donald Trump.
The statement was made by Prime Minister Andrej Babiš during a government meeting, Radio Prague International reports.
Babiš stressed that any move to join the Board of Peace would require the approval of both the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.
“Of course, we will need to negotiate with the Senate, but only after we determine the position of other European Union member states,” the Prime Minister said.
He added that during a recent European Council meeting in Brussels, an agreement was reached on coordinating actions among member states. “Therefore, we will not act individually,” Babiš noted.
At the same time, the Prime Minister indicated that no specific timeline has yet been established for a final decision regarding the Czech Republic’s potential membership in the Board of Peace.
