Media: Israel notified US immediately before strike on Doha
Israel informed the United States just moments before launching a missile strike targeting Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar, according to CBS News senior White House reporter Jennifer Jacobs.
“Israel notified the U.S. just before the strike on Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar — just about at the time the missiles were being launched,” Jacobs said on X.
She added that while the operation was not coordinated with Washington, Israel did provide last-minute notification.
Earlier, a powerful explosion rocked Doha on September 9, in what appeared to be an Israeli airstrike targeting Hamas leadership outside Gaza. Smoke plumes were captured in videos circulating online.
Initial reports suggested Khalil al-Hayya, Hamas’ chief negotiator, may have been killed, but a senior Hamas official told Al Jazeera that all delegation members survived unharmed.
US and UK reconnaissance aircraft were reportedly operating over the area before the strike, underscoring intense international monitoring of the incident.
