Belarus open to Ukrainians as Minsk seeks better ties, says Lukashenko

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stressed that Belarus remains open to Ukrainians who come with good intentions, while expressing hope that Minsk and Kyiv will restore mutually beneficial cooperation.

In a congratulatory message marking Ukraine’s 35th anniversary of Independence Day, the Belarusian leader emphasised the importance of preserving the centuries-old traditions and shared historical ties between the two peoples.

“The historical destinies of the Belarusian and Ukrainian peoples are closely intertwined. Our nations are bound by centuries-old traditions, the memory of shared victories and difficult trials,” the message said.

Lukashenko also expressed confidence that future generations of citizens of the two countries would preserve their fraternal ties.

Concluding his message, the Belarusian leader wished the people of Ukraine health and prosperity, and the country happiness and peace.
