Hungary’s Paks nuclear plant restores three reactors to full power
24 August 2026 12:27
Hungary’s Paks Nuclear Power Plant has resumed operations at three of its four reactor units after low water levels in the Danube forced the facility to shut down earlier this month.
Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar announced the development in a Facebook post, saying the three units are now operating at full capacity.
All eight pumping systems have also been restored, while work is underway to reconnect the fourth reactor unit, Magyar said.
The plant is expected to reach an overall output of nearly 2,000 megawatts within two days, marking a significant recovery in Hungary’s nuclear power generation following the disruption caused by the Danube’s low water levels.
