UK, France to deploy fighter jets to Poland after drone incursion
Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz has announced that the United Kingdom and France have offered to deploy Eurofighter and Rafale fighter jets to Poland in response to the recent drone incursion.
Speaking in a broadcast on TVP Info, he said that London and Paris were backing up their pledges to defend NATO’s eastern flank with military aircraft, Caliber.Az reports.
The minister also noted that the Netherlands would accelerate the delivery of two Patriot air defence systems to Poland.
The announcement followed reports that on the night of September 10, unidentified drones entered Polish territory.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk convened an emergency government meeting after the incident. He later clarified that 19 unmanned aerial vehicles had been detected in Polish airspace, most of them originating from Belarus.
