Azerbaijan, Pakistan accelerate talks on energy cooperation, investment ventures Photo
On May 22, Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik met Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Khazar Farhadov, to discuss boosting bilateral ties, especially in energy, and exploring new economic opportunities.
Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik expressed appreciation for Azerbaijan’s unwavering support for Pakistan during its recent conflict with India, reaffirming the enduring fraternal ties between the two countries, Caliber.Az reports, citing Pakistani media.
He highlighted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif deeply values Azerbaijan’s show of solidarity, noting that Azerbaijan has consistently backed Pakistan. He extended gratitude to all brotherly nations that stood by Pakistan during one of the most testing periods in recent times. The Minister also stressed the need to strengthen cooperation in oil and gas exploration, energy trade, and investment initiatives.
Ambassador Farhadov reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to expanding economic and energy ties with Pakistan, underlining a shared vision for enhanced energy connectivity and development. He emphasised the high regard Azerbaijan holds for its relationship with Pakistan, adding that both nations are committed to deepening their historic fraternal bonds through increased economic collaboration, particularly in the energy sector.
The Minister also drew attention to his forthcoming participation in Baku Energy Week, where he will represent Pakistan and engage with international energy leaders to promote partnerships for sustainable energy progress.
He noted that SOCAR Upstream, Azerbaijan’s state energy firm, is currently in discussions with Pakistani counterparts regarding potential collaboration in exploration activities—initiatives that could pave the way for mutual growth.
Both parties agreed to fast-track talks on joint ventures to fully tap into the strategic potential of their partnership. They expressed optimism about future cooperation that would benefit both countries and bolster regional energy security.
