Pakistan, Iran intend to initiate long-term security, defence cooperation
Chairman of Pakistan’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Nadeem Raza, who is on an official visit to Iran, met Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in Tehran on July 2.
“During the meeting, both sides expressed the desire to initiate long-term cooperation in security and defence between the two countries,” Report informs citing Asian News International (ANI).
The "issues of bilateral strategic interest" and security in the region were discussed at the meeting, according to the reports.
General Nadeem Raza also held meetings with Iranian Defence Minister, Brigadier General Mohammad-Reza Gharaei Ashtiani, Chief of General Staff, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, Major General Hossein Salami, and Commander of Iranian Navy, Rear Admiral Shahram Irani.
The Iranian military leadership highly appreciated the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces and recognised their merits in the fight against terrorism.
