Pakistan reaffirms “fraternal ties” with Azerbaijan in Independence Day message
Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day, reaffirming the strong fraternal ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
In his congratulatory message, the Pakistani prime minister extended “warmest felicitations” to President Aliyev, the Azerbaijani government, and the “brotherly people of Azerbaijan,” Caliber.Az reports via state media.
Sharif described the occasion as a reflection of “the resilience, determination, and enduring spirit of the Azerbaijani nation,” adding that the people of Pakistan join Azerbaijan in celebrating the country’s “remarkable journey of progress, stability, and national development.”
The Pakistani premier also recalled attending Azerbaijan’s Independence Day celebrations last year together with President Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
“I will always cherish the memories of last year’s Independence Day celebrations, which I was privileged to have spent with Your Excellency and our dear brother President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in Azerbaijan,” the message read.
Sharif stressed that Pakistan attaches “the highest importance” to its close relations with Azerbaijan, noting that bilateral ties continue to strengthen under President Aliyev’s leadership.
“Our brotherhood reflects a shared outlook on regional peace, mutual respect, and a common desire to see our partnership develop in a manner befitting the depth of our ties,” he stated.
The Pakistani prime minister also congratulated Azerbaijan on the successful hosting of the recent World Urban Forum in Baku and expressed hope for a meeting with President Aliyev in the near future.
Sharif further reiterated his invitation for the Azerbaijani president to pay an official visit to Pakistan, saying Islamabad was ready to accord him “a most warm welcome.”
Concluding the message, the Pakistani leader wished President Aliyev good health and the Azerbaijani people continued progress and prosperity.
