Pakistan urges US, Iran to lay down arms, resume talks
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry has called on the United States and Iran to end hostilities and return to negotiations aimed at resolving their disputes.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the conflict must be resolved through dialogue rather than military means, Caliber.Az reports, citing Pakistani media.
He noted that Pakistan will continue to urge the parties to cease violence and resume technical negotiations in accordance with the memorandum of understanding.
“We underscored that a renewed conflict serves no one's interest. <…> There is no alternative to sustained engagement, dialogue and diplomacy,” he added.
US President Donald Trump earlier resumed strikes against Iran and declared that he considered the ceasefire to be over.
Last week, US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz said that expert-level negotiations on Iran's nuclear program had nevertheless continued despite the renewed escalation.
