Pakistani National Assembly Speaker pays visit to Azerbaijani Embassy Extends condolences over AZAL plane crash

02 January 2025 15:47

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, visited the Azerbaijani Embassy in Islamabad to offer his condolences to the government and people of Azerbaijan following the tragic crash of an AZAL passenger plane.

Mr. Sadiq extended heartfelt sympathies to Azerbaijan, expressing sorrow over the loss of lives and wishing a swift recovery to those injured in the crash, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Embassy.

“H.E. Mr. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Chairman of the National Assembly of Pakistan, visited the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Pakistan, and offered condolences to the Government and people of Azerbaijan over the crash of a plane belonging to AZAL. He also wished a speedy recovery to the injured,” the embassy wrote on its official X (formerly Twitter) account.

The tragic incident occurred on December 25, when an AZAL passenger plane, en route from Baku to Grozny, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Out of the 67 people on board, 38 lost their lives, while 29 survived the disaster.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the crash may have been caused by external physical and technical interference, though the exact cause is still under investigation.

The Azerbaijani Embassy in Islamabad expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support and solidarity during this difficult time.
