Baku-Tehran build on high-level dialogue to deepen cooperation

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi discussed ways to advance bilateral cooperation while emphasising dialogue, good-neighbourly relations, and regional stability. 

Their meeting took place in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, where the two ministers also addressed bilateral and multilateral issues, regional developments, and security concerns, Caliber.Az reports.

The sides stressed the importance of maintaining high-level contacts, mutual respect, and good-neighbourly relations. They also highlighted the August 2026 meeting between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Iran in Bishkek as another important step toward expanding bilateral cooperation.

“Regional security issues were also discussed, with emphasis on the importance of diplomacy and dialogue, and promoting peace and stability,” the ministry’s statement read.
