Azerbaijan, Bangladesh sign visa exemption agreement for official passport holders PHOTO

Azerbaijan and Bangladesh have taken a step toward closer official and institutional ties with the signing of an agreement exempting certain passport holders from visa requirements. 

The document, titled “Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh on exemption of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, official and service passports,” was signed in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and his Bangladeshi counterpart Khalilur Rahman, who also serves as President of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, Caliber.Az reports.

“This document will serve as a valuable input for enhancing official contacts and broadening the scope of our mutually beneficial partnership,” the ministry said.

Following the signing, Bayramov and Rahman discussed the current state and prospects of Azerbaijani-Bangladeshi relations, emphasising the importance of strengthening political dialogue, expanding trade and economic cooperation, and developing ties in education and humanitarian fields. 

The two officials also exchanged views on cooperation within the UN and other multilateral platforms, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest. The meeting also highlighted Azerbaijan’s active participation in UN activities and its contribution to strengthening multilateral cooperation in addressing pressing global challenges.
