Pentagon acknowledges strain on military aid supplies As global commitments grow
Deputy Spokeswoman for the US Department of Defence, Sabrina Singh, acknowledged that the United States' stockpiles of military aid intended for other countries are limited.
"Our stockpiles are not infinite. You have seen us request additional aid packages to support Ukraine and Israel," Singh stated, highlighting challenges in replenishing the US defence industrial base, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Despite these constraints, she emphasized that the US remains committed to providing military support to both Ukraine and Israel.
On October 1, the Pentagon announced its decision to deploy several thousand US soldiers to the Middle East to bolster security and potentially protect Israel. Singh noted that this would include several squadrons of F-15E, F-16, and F-22 fighter jets, along with A-10 attack aircraft, effectively doubling the air presence in the region. The total number of US troops stationed there is expected to increase to 43,000.
In response to escalating tensions, the Pentagon has also raised the readiness of additional US forces in case of an attack by Iran or its allies.
On September 27, the Israel Defence Forces carried out an airstrike on Hezbollah's main headquarters in Beirut, resulting in the death of the group’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, and injuring more than 70 people. Nasrallah's elimination triggered global reactions, with Iran accusing the US of orchestrating the strike and vowing to intensify its resistance.
The US praised Nasrallah's elimination as a "measure of justice."
In response to the assassination of Hezbollah, and Hamas key members, Iran flew a barrage of rockets on Israel on October 1.
