Ukraine secures $1.4 billion in military aid from Norway to strengthen defence
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has announced that in the last two weeks, Ukraine has received $1.4 billion in financial assistance from Norway, which will be used to bolster artillery ammunition and military training programmes.
This crucial support is part of Ukraine's ongoing efforts to strengthen its defence as it continues to face Russian aggression, Caliber.Az reports via the prime minister's message on Telegram.
In a statement posted on his Telegram channel, Shmyhal shared, "Over the past two weeks, $1.4 billion has been allocated for artillery ammunition and military training."
This announcement follows his meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, which took place during the spring sessions of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank in Washington, D.C. Alongside the military assistance, Shmyhal also revealed that Ukraine has secured two additional financial aid packages.
These will be directed toward enhancing the country’s healthcare system and supporting reconstruction efforts amid the ongoing conflict. Furthermore, Shmyhal mentioned that he and Støre discussed potential cooperation in joint weapons production, further strengthening Ukraine's defence industry.
