Several people killed in tour bus crash in Switzerland

Several people were killed on September 10 after a tour bus crashed in Switzerland’s southeastern canton of Graubünden, Swiss public broadcaster SRF reports.

The bus was traveling from Zernez toward Susch when it entered a roadwork zone and struck a guardrail. The vehicle then veered off the road and rolled onto its side.

Police have not yet released the exact number of fatalities or people injured in the crash.

There were reportedly 48 passengers aboard the bus, most of whom are believed to be Dutch nationals.

A large emergency response was launched following the accident. Rega air-rescue teams, several ambulance crews and firefighters were dispatched to the scene, while emergency personnel from other cantons, including St. Gallen, were also sent to assist.

Rescue and recovery operations continued through the evening and into the night. The affected section of the road was temporarily closed to traffic.

Authorities have not yet provided further details on the identities of the victims or the circumstances that led to the crash.
