Uzbekistan to ban excessive noise at night

10 September 2026 21:12

Uzbekistan has adopted a law On Protecting the Population from the Harmful Effects of Noise, the Ministry of Justice has stated.

The ministry said in a post on Telegram that the law sets permissible noise levels and introduces time restrictions on creating noise that disturbs citizens’ peace and normal rest, Caliber.Az reports.

On working days, noise exceeding the permissible level will be prohibited from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. On weekends and non-working public holidays, the restriction will apply from 10 p.m. to 9 a.m.

The law covers, in particular, noise generated by household and domestic activities in residential buildings, construction work, machinery and transport.

A permissible noise level is defined as one “that does not cause significant disturbance to a person, does not lead to serious changes in the functioning of the human body’s systems and noise-sensitive organs, and is determined by sanitary rules and regulations”.

Compliance with the requirements will be monitored by the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health under the Ministry of Health.

Citizens will be able to seek compensation through the courts for harm caused by exposure to noise.

The law will enter into force three months after its official publication, on 11 December 2026.
