PM: Georgia built on people’s will, clear development vision
Georgia is a state with a clear vision of development and a foundation based on the will of its people, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has said.
Kobakhidze made the remarks on the occasion of the 14th anniversary of the “Georgian Dream” party, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
The prime minister stated that prior to 2012, Georgia faced systemic problems, adding that significant reforms were introduced after the change of government.
“After the change of government, systemic reforms began. The judicial system became transparent, and the rights and freedoms of citizens are protected in practice, not only in words,” Kobakhidze said.
He noted that law enforcement agencies had been freed from political influence and now under the law rather than serving individual interests.
Kobakhidze also said the country’s economy has become more stable and predictable, which he attributed to improved governance conditions.
“Risks of pressure on business have disappeared, which has led to increased investment and the development of the private sector,” he said.
Addressing the healthcare sector, the prime minister highlighted reforms and expanded social protection measures.
“A universal healthcare program has been introduced, social guarantees have been expanded, extreme poverty has decreased, and state support for citizens has increased,” he said.
Kobakhidze concluded by stressing the importance of safeguarding the country’s political direction.
“The main task today is to protect sovereignty and an independent political course, despite external pressures and the challenges of the modern world,” he said.
