PM: Hungary hopes Trump to win US election

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said that Hungary hopes that ex-US President Donald Trump will win the November election.

“Hungary hopes that ex-US President Donald Trump will win the November election, return to the White House and also help achieve settlement in Ukraine,” Orban said during his annual speech on the country’s policy priorities, TASS reports.

Moreover, Orban stressed that he is not going to meddle in the other country’s domestic affairs, but "he would like to see Trump return to presidency and establish peace in the eastern part of Europe."

Apart from Trump’s victory in the US presidential election, Orban would like to see changes in the EU’s leadership as well as cooperation, rather than severing business ties between the East and the West.

"We will make Europe great again!" he said, rephrasing the famous slogan of the former US leader.

The Hungarian prime minister expects that the right-wing parties will strengthen positions after the June election to the European parliament.

"Only a turn to the right can bring real changes. However, it’s important that the new right forces become not an alternative to Europe, but a European alternative," he stressed.
