Media: Four Palestinian journalists killed in Israeli airstrike on hospital

25 August 2025 13:01

At least 14 people, including four Palestinian journalists, were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza, according to Gaza’s Government Media Office.

In a statement, the office described the attack as a “horrific crime” targeting a group of journalists who were on assignment at the hospital in Khan Younis Governorate, Caliber.Az reports via Al Jazeera

The journalists killed in the strike have been identified as: Hossam al-Masri, photojournalist with Reuters; Mohammed Salama, photojournalist with Al Jazeera; Mariam Abu Daqa, reporter for several outlets including The Independent Arabic and Associated Press; and Moaz Abu Taha, journalist with NBC News.

The Gaza Media Office condemned the attack and accused Israel of deliberately targeting members of the press, holding the Israeli military, the US administration, and European countries including the UK, Germany, and France “fully responsible for committing these heinous, brutal crimes.”

The strike on Nasser Hospital is the latest in a series of attacks that have raised alarm over the safety of medical and press personnel in the conflict zone.

This brings the total number of journalists killed in Gaza since the beginning of the war to at least 244.
