Blaszczak said Poland was beginning steps to launch the ORKA programme.
"The Armament Agency has started preliminary market consultations on new type submarines for the Polish Navy. The ORKA programme is one of the most important modernisation programmes of the Polish Army. Our goal is to procure the submarines together with the provision of the necessary technologies," the minister said.
Now the Polish Navy has one submarine. It is a Kilo-type vessel launched in 1985. The unit has been modernised and overhauled, undergoing at least 10 repairs between 2020 and 2021, but its current condition is unknown.
