Polish FM questions timing of Serbian-Hungarian pipeline sabotage
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski commented on the recent events surrounding the alleged sabotage of a gas pipeline in Serbia supplying gas to Hungary.
Writing on X, he described the incident as “a suspiciously convenient coincidence,” highlighting his scepticism about the timing and circumstances, Caliber.Az reports.
Sikorski addressed remarks by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán about assigning military forces to guard the Hungarian section of the pipeline, where an attempted sabotage reportedly occurred on Serbian territory.
Orbán travelled early on the morning of April 6 to the Hungary–Serbia border to inspect the gas pipeline on the Hungarian side.
He convened an emergency session of the National Defence Council after Serbian authorities discovered an explosive device and triggering equipment on critical gas infrastructure connecting Serbia and Hungary.
Following the meeting, Orbán announced additional reinforcement of military personnel guarding the section of the TurkStream gas pipeline on Hungarian territory.
