Political analyst: West not to act against Azerbaijan to help Armenia

12 April 2024 16:30

Armenian political analyst Hakob Badalyan has said that the West is interested in acting against Russia and Iran, rather than against Azerbaijan.

“Armenia interprets its policy as a demand or exhortation of Western players. This can be perceived as a requirement because there is no regional security framework,” Badalyan told the Armenian media, Caliber.Az reports.

“The system in which Russia played a key role has collapsed. For various reasons, Russia does not have the desire or ability to take on bigger responsibility in this aspect. That is, Russia has no opportunities, so its desires change,” the political analyst noted.

“From this point of view, Armenia is now trying to manage the situation, involving the West in the field of some responsibility. However, the West does not want to take on the responsibility that we want, that is, to force Azerbaijan to compromise with Armenia, to abandon these approaches based on the most conservative logic,” he noted.

“The Western officials say that it is necessary to find a way to get along with Azerbaijan and Türkiye, and this is a guarantee of Armenia’s security. There is no need to use pressure. Proceeding from the current situation, there are no reliable guarantees concerning Russia or even Iran, because we cannot consider Iran's guarantees to be completely reliable,” Badalyan noted.

“Only the West remains. While using the situation without excessive pressure, the West directly let Armenia know that it will not act against Azerbaijan to help Armenia and is not even interested in this issue. It is clear that the West is interested in acting against Russia and Iran, rather than against Azerbaijan,” the political analyst added.
